Day 33

Tonight I did Week 3 of the Two Peas course. It was quite enlightening and I really wish I hadn't put it off. I discovered that it is so easy to set custom white balance and improves my photos so much!

I went through all the preset white balance modes on my camera and then did a custom setting with a piece of white paper.

All photo settings are 50mm f/2.8 ~ 1/100s ~ ISO1000

Auto

Tungsten/Incandescent

Fluorescent

Sunny

Cloudy

Shade

Custom

This is a side-by-side comparison of the "custom" setting (left) and the "tungsten" setting (right). As you can see, even when the only light source is tungsten light, the preset 'tungsten' white balance still doesn't get it quite right...it still has a yellowish cast to my eye.
